Im in a whole new world. Idaho Falls area is sooooooo different than Pocatello…but i love it. a lot. and Hermana Cole is my long lost twin.
This week was kinda crazy with transfers and everthing. so ill do my best to get my thoughts in order.
So leaving Pokey was rough…tuesday night i wanted to play soccer one last time with the branch and our investigators. So we show up and theres like allllll these people from the branch that never come to soccer….turns out that one of my favs, hermano castro, posted on facebook for all the branch members to come out since it was my last night in Pokey. we played soccer and then they had me bear my testimony and i actually succeeded in not sobbing my eyes out. I love that branch soooo much. feel like my heart will kinda always be there..
So Ammon. its so good. We cover the Mesa Spanish branch (which covers 8 stakes) we cover half, and then the elders cover the other half. then we also cover 3 wards in english! so its a lot. but im happy, cause that means we’ll stay busy.
We currently have a baptism date with this little boy, David . He’s 9 and he’s the smartest kid in the world. His date was for january 9th…but we had to push it back because he got sick on sunday and couldnt come to church. So pleeeease pray that him and his family will be able to come to church together so he can receive the blessing of baptism.
We had had a couple really cool experiences this week. We met this guy Nick, he’s 22 and he’s atheist. We knock on his door and the first thing he says is “no way..i thought the last missionaries that came here wouldve put an X on my house.” turns out missionaries came to his house like a year ago, he told them that he was atheist and then they never came back. Anyway, we had a super solid conversation with him about what he believes and why, and what we believe and why. He told us he’s completely open to learning more, so we set up an appointment with him on tuesday! after that chat with him i got thinking about faith. and how huge of a blessing it is to believe in something. Theres people out there that think that having faith in something is the dumb thing to do…they think its smarter to stick with logic.. but i love something that Pres Uchtdorf said last conference
“Brethren, let me be clear: there is nothing noble or impressive about being cynical. Skepticism is easy—anyone can do it. It is the faithful life that requires moral strength, dedication, and courage. Those who hold fast to faith are far more impressive than those who give in to doubt when mysterious questions or concerns arise.”
Keep the faith folks. although the world makes it seem like its not the coolest thing. This church is true. and i love it so much.
feliz navidad a todos. its a special time of year, cherish it.
love you all!
