wowzers. this week cant really be summed up in an email. but ill do my very best!
oh and explanation on the subject line… we had dinner with the Vegas and i ate this chile pepper because i wanted the little kids to think i was cool (and im doing everything possible to make myself more hispanic) Anyway, i literally thought i was going to have to be rushed to the hospital…hahahaha hottest thing i have ever tasted in my life. NEVER AGAIN. ill have a video to show when i get home. good stuff.
So the best part of the week…. DAVID CASTRO GOT BAPTIZED. most perfect baptism service ever. Sister Cole and i were stressin out, but everything turned out beautifully. The whole room was full of branch members and other missionaries with investigators..and the spirit was so present. Hermano Castro baptized him like a pro. It was perfect. He was confirmed the next day in sacrament meeting, and that same day both Hermano Castro and Ruben jr advanced in the priesthood. man…Families. This gospel is truly for families. And its the biggest blessing ever to have a front row seat to watching this family grow and delight in the gospel of jesus christ.
also another blessing- la familia vega came to church!! They could only stay for the 1st hour…but still. huge tender mercy. they also texted US out of the blue and asked us to come over and have dinner with them…so that was huge. and super fun. they told us they were making “pastelitos” so i was like sweet! cupcakes. But apparently not..haha they’re like an el salvadorian version of an empenada! soooo yummy.
Okay so here’s the funny story of the week. So remember the old lady in the wheelchair that we saved from the cold? so yesterday we were driving through that same trailer court. AND WE SEE HER OUT SHOVELING SNOW AGAIN. keep in mind, its freezing outside. and she’s in a wheelchair….. so dejavu.. we pull over. get out of the car, walk up and ask her if we can shovel the snow for her and she goes ” oh im not shoveling snow, im just cleaning up after sparky’s mess…but yes i would really appreciate it if you could help me. *hands me the snow shovel*” Holy moly it was never ending…there was so much “mess”.. hahahaha BUT nevertheless, it was still a great service opportunity. and we got to share a message with her again. so thats what really matters. (dont worry, picture attached)
im happy. this gospel makes me happy. and i know it can do the same for anyone who chooses to follow our Savior, Jesus Christ. Some things may not make sense…we may still have trials, but in the end, you’ll come out of it happy. and thats a promise.
Love you all! hope its a splendid week.
